This is a Summer 2025 internship at CLP Systems in the Estimating Department.

CLP Systems specializes in tie down systems and framing hardware in the wood framed industry. We are looking for a highly qualified intern to join our team. Our estimating team supports all divisions of CLP Systems (Sales, Project Management, and Design) and most importantly, our customers. Simplifying tie down hardware to create great customer experiences is at the core of our organizational ethos. CLP Systems seeks an intern who can bring consistent quality and lead in various aspects of continuous improvement and quality control.
Upon completion of the internship the student will have gained a strong understanding of the importance and function of structural framing hardware, shear wall hardware, uplift hardware, material take offs, and bidding processes. Additionally, they will have broad experience in various aspects of Bluebeam Revu software, shear wall and uplift hold down design, review processes, quality control.
Utilizing Bluebeam Revu to produce material take offs and identify potential framing conflicts or areas of ambiguity to present in the bid package.
Reviewing construction documents to ensure job tracking accuracy.
Collaborating closely with members of the estimating and sales teams to compile competitive bid packages.
Reviewing tie down system components using in-house Excel VBA design program.
Applying engineering concepts to improve system design and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Participating in projects centered around current business challenges.
Education: Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field in the Birmingham, AL area.
Computer Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Word, and Excel.
Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills.
Adaptability: Ability to pivot quickly and efficiently to changes in projects.
Time Management: Manage time, prioritize tasks effectively, having a desire to “win” and get things done.
Attention to detail: Meticulous in work and ability to pay close attention to details.
